Bottom Line:

Properly equipped the 2022 Maverick can tow up to 4,000 pounds.

The all-new 2022 Ford Maverick compact pickup is smaller than the mid-size Ford Ranger and the full-size F-150, but it offers an excellent compromise between cargo capabilities and five-passenger capacity. The optional turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and 8-speed transmission provide ample power and excellent fuel economy. The Maverick is built on the same chassis as the Bronco Sport compact crossover SUV. The standard 2.5-liter I-4 is a hybrid, so drivetrain choices are good. Front wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available although AWD is a $3300 option.
